INGREDIENTS
250g plain flour
50g soft salted butter*
125g salted butter
100g cold water
Chocolate spread of your choice! (as much as you like lol)
Icing sugar for dusting
*I used vegan block butter for this recipe! Regular butter works too
- Add 50g butter to the flour. Use a fork to combine the ingredients until you get a texture that resembles breadcrumbs
- Pour in the cold water and knead into a dough.
- Roll the dough into a ball and leave covered to rest for 15 minutes
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle, spread the rest of the butter onto the dough evenly. Fold the dough in three sections.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle again and fold into three sections.
- Repeat the process 3 more times and then place the dough in the fridge for 20 mins
- Roll out the dough one final time. Cut it into two equal pieces and cut out a triangle with a little trunk at the bottom just like a tree on one piece
- Place the dough on a sheet of parchment paper on the baking tray
- Spread your chocolate spread, and place the other sheet of dough ontop.
- Cut the dough to the shape of the tree, make slits on each side and twist them twice
- Cut out a star with the left over dough and place it on top
- Bake for 25 mins at 180C or until its golden brown
- Dust with a icing sugar and enjoy :)
